The John W. Engeman Theater’s amazing production of Aida, scheduled to run through June 23, will now run through June 30, 2019 (six shows were added because of demand). This epic tale of love, loyalty, and betrayal won four Tony Awards and features music by Elton John and Tim Rice (Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat). The musical is based on Verdi’s opera by the same name set in Egypt and ran on Broadway for four years. Elton John’s score has influences of reggae, Motown, Gospel, and African music, along with his pop style. Some have said that it resembles the music in John’s The Lion King

Aida is produced by Richard Dolce, the Engeman Theater’s Producing Artistic Director, directed and choreographed by Paul Stancato (Engeman Theater: In the Heights, Grease, Jekyll & Hyde, Sound of Music, Hairspray; Broadway: The Wedding Singer (Asst. Aida features the love triangle between KAYLA CYPHERS as Aida, KEN ALLEN NEELY as Radames and JENNA RUBAII as Amneris. The three actors, along with featured actors and ensemble, bring this dazzling and colorful production to life with soaring vocals, engaging the riveted audience and bringing it to a standing ovation at the finale. Do not miss this spectacular production.

This production is notable for its costumes by costume designer Kurt Alger, particularly the Egyptian princess Amneris whose role comes to life on stage in the fantastic costumes she wears.

The cast also features: ENRIQUE ACEVEDO (Zoser), JULIUS CHASE (Pharaoh), CHAZ ALEXANDER COFFIN (Mereb), GAVIN GREGORY (Amonsaro) and DARIA PILAR REDUS (Nehebka), and includes PATRICK BALL, JORDAN BOLLWERK, JAVONTRE BOOKER, EMILY BORDLEY, BREANNA COLLIER, TARA C.
