Thousands Expected at 8th Annual Huntington Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting

The Joy

The Eighth Annual Huntington Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting, an event that draws between 5,000 and 10,000 people to view the colorful floats and to welcome Santa to Huntington Village, kicks off at 5 p.m. at the Big H Shopping Center on New York Avenue, proceeds north to Main Street and then west on Main Street to West Neck Road.

Following the parade will be the annual tree lighting ceremony. The tree is on Wall Street, in front of the Shore Theater at Gerard Street.

The grand marshal of the parade is Michael DelGiudice of the Billy Joel tribute band Big Shot, which has developed a following in its own right and which regularly packs the Paramount Theater in Huntington. DelGiudice also performs with Billy Joel and his band.

Following the ceremony, DelGiudice will perform a few numbers from the stage and Wall and Gerard Streets. Also performing will be the Huntington Men’s Chorus.

The parade and tree lighting cap a full day of holiday activities, including musical performances throughout the village, a scavenger hunt for children and people voting for the winner of the annual gingerbread house competition (the entries are on display at the Paramount, 370 New York Avenue).
