Grease at Engeman Theater: It Is Electrifying!

Lucky for you there is still time to see the musical Grease at Northport’s Engeman Theater. Originally scheduled to close on August 27,  they have added an extra week of shows through September 3, 2017, and you can still get tickets.

Spend a perfect summer night being taken back on a trip to high school in 1959. There are so many unforgettable songs and this cast really delivers them: “Summer Nights,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” “Greased Lightnin’,” “You’re the One That I Want,” “There are Worse Things I Could Do.”

Everyone knows the story of Grease, but you will fall in love with your favorite characters all over again at this production because Engeman’s superb cast brings the story and music to life on stage. Of particular note is the amazing choreography of Antoinette DiPietropolo in all of the company numbers such as “Grease is the Word,” “Summer Night,” “Shakin’ at the High School Hop,” “Born to Hand Jive,” “You’re the One That I Want,” and “We Go Together.” The talented DiPietropolo has many Engeman credits, including The Full Monty, Mamma Mia!, Memphis, and A Christmas Story. She has also worked on the National Tour of How The Grinch Stole Christmas; Off-Broadway in With Glee; Regional: Annie, Chicago, Ragtime, and Jesus Christ Superstar; and as Associate Director/Choreographer of The Big Apple Circus.

Top acting and vocal awards go to Madeleine Barker as Rizzo and Laura Helm as Marty. These two actresses bring Rizzo and Marty to life in a believable way with outstanding acting and vocals. The rest of the amazing cast includes: Liana Hunt as Sandy (Broadway: Newsies, Mamma Mia! and National Tours of Wicked and Mamma Mia!; Sam Wolf as Danny who has many Regional Theater credits including Carrie, Les Miserables, Guys & Dolls, Footloose, and Engeman’s West Side Story as Riff; Sari Alexander as Frenchy; Tracy Bidleman as Miss Lynch; Katherine Margo Brown as Cha-Cha; Zach Erhardt as Doody; Tim Falter as Vince Fontaine/Teen Angel; Kaitlin Nelson as Patty; Chris Collins-Pisano as Roger; Tim Russell as Eugene; Robert Serrano as Johnny Casino; Casey Shane as Sonny; Chris Stevens as Kenickie; and Hannah Slabaugh as Jan.

Grease is produced by Richard Dolce, the Engeman’s Producing Artistic Director, and directed by Paul Stancato (Engeman: Jekyll & Hyde, Sound of Music, Hairspray; Broadway: The Wedding Singer (Assistant Choreographer), The Lion King (Res. Director); National Tours: Flashdance, Jekyll & Hyde, The Wedding Singer). Musical director of this production is Alec Bart who has Broadway credits in Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 and Las Vegas credits: Rock of Ages, Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia, ShowStoppers, Camp Broadway; National Tours: 42nd Street, Cabaret).

You will leave the theater dancing and singing after this production. Don’t miss out!
