Huntington Station Man Re-Arrested After Hospital Escape

Suffolk County Police First Precinct officers arrested Alexander Thomas of 14 East 4th Street, Huntington Station after he escaped from custody while being treated at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.

Originally apprehended in North Amityville on Thursday evening at approximately 7 p.m. for several charges, including Criminal Possession of a Loaded Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree, False Personation, Harassment, and Resisting Arrest. Because they used a taser on Thomas during the arrest, he was subsequently transported to Good Sam for treatment. While there, Thomas complained of chest pains.

On Friday at approximately 12 PM while being treated, Thomas assaulted a police officer and fled on foot through the adjoining neighborhood. He was re-captured by a Canine Officer and his dog approximately one hour later.

The prisoner and the officer were treated at the hospital for minor injuries and were released.

Thomas now faces additional charges of Escape 2nd Degree and Assault 2nd Degree. He was scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court on October 3rd.

Thomas’ residence, 14 East 4th Street, Huntington Station, is a non-owner occupied building that is listed in Town of Huntington records as part of the real estate portfolio of absentee landlord Donald Pius.
