Woman Critically Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash with Bus in Greenlawn

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that critically injured a Queens woman at Broadway and Delamere Street, Greenlawn, this morning at approximately 8:35 a.m.

Marie Pierre-Paul was driving a 2009 Altima eastbound on Delamere Street when she attempted to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Broadway. Pierre-Paul’s vehicle slid on ice and entered the intersection where the vehicle was struck by a 2002 Chevrolet school bus that was traveling northbound on Broadway.

Pierre-Paul, 38, of 13530 233rd St., Rosedale, was transported to Huntington Hospital in critical condition.

There were two male students, ages 11 and 14, on the bus at the time of the crash and both were transported to Huntington Hospital as a precaution. The driver of the bus, Crystal Quigley, 49, suffered minor injuries and a bus matron, Peter Alvarez, 39, was transported to Huntington Hospital for treatment of a broken leg.

The bus, owned by Suffolk Transportation Service Incorporated in Bay Shore, was en route to the Developmental Disabilities Institute, located at 25 Little Plains Road in Huntington.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
