Gunfire In Huntington Station Again

Site of shooting in Huntington Station.

7 Tippin Drive, the site of shooting in Huntington Station.

Second Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in front of 7 Tippin Drive last night around 9:30 p.m. According to police, the victim, Sheldon Leftenant, was standing in front of the residence when two vehicles drove by and someone fired a gun at the group. The bullet struck Leftenant, 23, in the groin. He was transported to Huntington Hospital and was later transported to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset to undergo surgery for non-life threatening injuries.

Town records indicate that 7 Tippin is a single family residence and is owned by CATCO Associates, one of the corporate holdings of Northport investor Donald Pius. Community activist Matt Harris previously identified the building in his December 2011 assessment of Section 8 properties. As the photograph illustrates, there are multiple children’s toys and bicycles in front of the house.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

A neighbor refused to discuss the incident with Village Tattler reporters.

What about all the other gun shots that go unreported in the station. You only get a notify if someone is hurt. Be safe people
