High Arts Showcase Student Artists from Seven School Districts

On Friday, March 7th, over 40 high school artists will have their work on exhibit at the Main Street Petite Gallery as part of the Huntington Arts Council’s “High Arts Showcase X.”  Seven school districts that participate in the Council’s JOURNEY Arts in Education program have submitted “the best of the best” work from their top high school student artists.  The JOURNEY school districts are: Commack, Harborfields,Huntington, North Babylon, Northport/East Northport, Plainview/Old Bethpage, and South Huntington.  The public is invited to the exhibit’s opening reception on Friday, March 7th from 6-8pm at The Main Street Petite Gallery, located at 213 Main Street, Huntington.  Awards of Excellence will be presented at the reception. “The High Arts Showcase is one of our favorite annual exhibits. It’s always thrilling to see the degree of artistic sophistication and creativity these high school artists express, and the appreciation they have for the education and encouragement their teachers have given.” stated Diana Cherryholmes, Executive Director of the Huntington Arts Council.

“High Arts Showcase X” will be on display from March 7 – April 7, 2014; Gallery hours are:  Monday – Friday 9am – 6pm.
