Fall Festivals and Cow Harbor Race This Weekend

Pickles, soaps and lavender, oh my!

‘Tis the season for festivals and with Fall arriving this weekend (what happened summer?), here are some local events going on this weekend:


The United Methodist Church of Huntington-Cold Spring Harbor, 180 West Neck Road, Huntington, is sponsoring its 25th annual festival to benefit several organizations, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m on Saturday. Check out the farmstand, plants, tag sale, pony rides and more.

The 34th annual Greenlawn-Centerport Historical Association’s Pickle Festival is also this Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the John Gardiner Barn, 900 Park Avenue, Huntington. The association is promising more barrels of pickles than last year.  Next door, the Developmental Disabilities Institute will also have a festival, corner of Park Avenue and Little Plains Road,  from 10-3 p.m.


Line up this Saturday for the Great Cow Harbor 10K race along with about 5,500 runners More than 25,000 spectators are expected to attend. The race starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Laurel Avenue School. For more information about the race, click

And Sunday is Cow Harbor Day, which kicks off with a traditional parade down Main Street at noon. The parade features local bands, floats, sport teams, high school marching bands, antique cars, and the Northport Trolley. Immediately following the parade, Main Street will be closed to traffic until 5 p.m.  In the Harbor Park, there will be amusement rides, live music, vendors, boating contests and barbecue style food. Also, local vendors on Main Street will offer food and goods for sale.
