Prime: An American Kitchen and Bar (www.restaurantprime.com, 115 New York Avenue, Huntington NY 11743, 631.385.1515) hosts a special pet adoption event for North Shore Animal League America on Thursday, July 18 from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Members of the public may take home their new pet directly from the Animal League’s mobile adoption unit which will be stationed at the luxury waterfront location for one evening. In addition to Prime’s spectacular sunset views overlooking Huntington Harbor, the Gold Coast glamour extends to a display of exclusive sports cars and yachts from Ferrari-Maserati and Sunseeker.

Says co-owner of Prime Restaurant, Michael Bohlsen, “Finding safe and permanent homes for our four-legged friends is fundamental to the quality of life for both them and their owners. We are delighted to support the Animal League’s quest to help these canines and felines find their way into the homes and hearts of Long Islanders.”

Adds Beth Stern, spokesperson for North Shore Animal League America, “I thank Prime for hosting this wonderful adoption event for the Animal League. I have experienced firsthand how adopting pets can change your life. There are so many wonderful animals to be found in local shelters.”

Stern also currently leads a campaign to make the dream of Bianca’s Furry Friends a reality. The project will create a state-of-the-art Feline Adoption & Wellness Center to help the Animal League increase the number of lives saved and significantly enhance the Animal League’s current operations for sheltering felines.  The Wellness Center, named after Beth & Howard Stern’s beloved bulldog, Bianca, will be a 14,000-square-foot facility serving as a stress-free environment for up to 200 adoptable cats and kittens by creating cage-free accommodations.

Adds Stern, “While the new Wellness Center will help save thousands more cats each year, the new space will open up room in the current shelter to help us be able to rescue more dogs. It’s a win-win for all animals and those who love them.”
