Suffolk County Police today arrested a Huntington man for making threats over payment of a parking ticket.
Robert Murphy was at Huntington Town Hall, located at 100 Main St. in Huntington, on January 30, 2013, regarding a prior parking summons and he left the building in an irate manner. Murphy yelled at a female Town of Huntington employee and made threats.
Following an investigation, a .45 caliber rifle was removed from his home on Hazard Avenue in Huntington Station. Murphy, 55, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for evaluation and released.
Upon release, Second Squad detectives charged Murphy with Making a Terroristic Threat, a class D felony. He will be held overnight at the Second Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on February 3.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

If it’s a .45, it’s a carbine, not a rifle (just sayin’)…
