Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating an incident that happened today on the Long Island Expressway in Dix Hills, where a man left his vehicle while driving.
Christopher Wilson was traveling eastbound on the LIE just west of Exit 51, when he left his 1993 Chevrolet Blazer, and landed on the road at 1:18 p.m. The vehicle continued for approximately another ¼ mile before crashing into a light post on the south side of the roadway, and then continued into the grass and struck a couple of trees. Detectives are investigating if Wilson fell out of the car, or jumped on purpose. No cars struck Wilson.
The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and Wilson, 40, of 10 Somerset St., Huntington Station, was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition.
