Lynch Ballet Company presents its first Annual Showcase Performance of dancers at The Theatre in Huntington High School on Saturday, October 13 at 5:00 p.m. Showcase tickets are $5.00 at the door. Fifty students from Lynch School of Ballet, ages 9 to 17, will each perform a solo to be evaluated by ballet professionals. “The showcase gives the dancers an opportunity to get a written evaluation about their ballet techniques and performance quality from ballet professionals. It will give them each positive feedback as well as things in their dancing they can work on and focus on improving over the next year,” said Karen Lynch, artistic director of Lynch School of Ballet.
The solo performances will be followed by group performances by each of the five participating academy levels. Evaluators at the showcase will be Matthew Prescott and Alexandra Gonzalez.
Matthew Prescott joined the Joffrey Ballet in 2000, has worked with Donald Byrd’s Spectrum, Dance Theater, Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet, Ballet NY, and Dance Theater of Harlem, among others.
Alexandra Gonzalez joined the San Francisco Ballet Company under the direction of Heidi Tomasson, after which she guested with the Miami City Ballet, Ballet Florida, and Americas Ballet, among other companies.
Lynch School of Ballet was founded in 2009, starting with 70 students. In three years, the school has grown by more than 100, to 180 students. The School performs the Nutcracker annually and a Spring ballet. This year, it will be mounting a new production of Swan Lake.
