The East Northport Fire Department responded to a Sunday evening collision, September 30 at about 6:10 p.m., on Third Avenue and Second Street involving a car and a pickup truck that overturned onto its side. Firefighters used heavy rescue tools to extricate the passenger of the Toyota Tacoma pickup by cutting out the windshield, and the driver of the Hyundai Elantra by removing a door. Forty firefighters and EMS personnel were on the scene with two heavy rescue trucks, two ambulances and fire police, under the command of First Assistant Chief Joe Ervin. An additional ambulance was requested from the Greenlawn Fire Department. Two men and a woman suffered injuries and were transported to Huntington Hospital by East Northport and Greenlawn rescue squad ambulances.
