Suffolk County Police have arrested a Huntington Station man for a residential burglary in Halesite.
Second Precinct NE/SOT (Neighborhood Enforcement/Special Operations Team) officers observed Matthew Schramm burglarize a home on Bay Avenue in Halesite on September 18 around 11 a.m. When officers approached Schramm, he attempted to flee in his Honda Civic and struck an unmarked police car after he was surrounded by other police cars. Schramm attempted to flee on foot but officers apprehended him and a struggle ensued.
Schramm, 55, of 42 Nichols Place, Huntington Station, was charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. Schramm, who complained of chest pains, was transported to Huntington Hospital and will be arraigned at a later date.
