The Centerport Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident with a trapped victim on Washington Drive, just east of Route 25A in Centerport, on Tuesday, May 1, at about 5:35 p.m.  A Chevrolet sports utility vehicle struck a utility pole and overturned onto its side, trapping the female driver inside the vehicle.  Firefighters used heavy rescue extrication tools to remove the vehicle roof and free the patient, who was transported to Huntington Hospital by the Centerport FD Rescue Squad with non-life-threatening injuries.  About 20 firefighters and rescue personnel were on the scene with two ambulances, two engines, and a heavy rescue truck, under the command of Centerport Fire Chief Andrew Stevenson.
