American Cancer Society Choose You Luncheon

On Wednesday, May 16, 2012, the American Cancer Society Choose You Luncheon is proud to honor Rebecca Hollander, Marketing Director for the Americana Manhasset & Wheatley Plaza and Dr. Cheryl Berger Israeloff, American Cancer Society volunteer for their commitment to the fight against cancer. The luncheon keynote will be presented by Dr. Sapna Parikh, Eyewitness News Medical Correspondent for ABC channel 7. The event will be held at the beautiful Carlyle on the Green, located on the grounds of Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale and promises to be a very special day of health, wellness and personal enrichment for all.

The American Cancer Society’s Choose You Movement encourages women to put their health first and be healthy role models for those around them. Choose You shines a light on a hidden issue–that one in three American women, 35 million in total, will get cancer in her lifetime. However, about 50% of all cancer deaths could be prevented if people avoid tobacco products, maintain a healthy weight through diet and regular exercise, and get recommended cancer screenings. Choose You challenges women and men nationwide to help prevent cancer by committing to healthier behaviors such as eating right, being active, quitting smoking and getting regular health checks.

Guests are invited to attend two facilitated workshops of their choice, followed by a networking reception, raffle and the awards luncheon presentation. Registration will open at 8:30 a.m. and workshops begin at 9:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. The networking reception begins at 11:30 a.m. and the lunch program will start at 12:30 p.m.
