The cast of "The Nerd," a comedy performed by The Minstrel Players Theatre Company in Northport Village.

The Minstrel Players Theatre Company of Northport Village kicks off its 2012 Season with a Spring production of Larry Shue’s outrageous comedy, “The Nerd.” Performances are Saturdays, April 21 & 28, and May 5 at 8 PM, and Sundays, April 22 and May 6 at 3 PM at Houghton Hall theatre at Trinity Episcopal Church located at 130 Main Street in Northport Village. Prices are $15 Adults and $12 Seniors/Children. Group rates (10 or more) are $10 pp paid in advance.

The production will be directed by Evan Donnellan (who also is featured in the play).  The cast is rounded out by Minstrel co-founders Ray & Tara Palen along with returning Minstrels: Carl Nehring, Tricia Ieronimo, Martin Edmond and Lisa Casillo.  There is also a debut by young actor, Emma Canfora. The ‘World Class’ crew is rounded out with Robert Cashman, Technical Director; Debbie Palen, Assistant Director; Kelly Quinn, Stage Manager; and Bernie Caprera, Lighting Director. “The Nerd” is a wacky comedy taking place in Terre Haute, Indiana in the year 1981.  An aspiring young architect named Willum is about to have his life–and the lives of his two roommates and a wealthy potential client– turned completely upside down by the appearance of Rick Steadman. Rick allegedly saved Willum’s life in Vietnam, but will that good deed be enough to overshadow the reality of being a hopeless ‘nerd’ and social misfit?

The Minstrel Players are committed to bringing high-quality, affordable theater to the Long Island Region. For more information please call (631)732-2926 or visit the Minstrel Player’s official website at www.minstrelplayers.org .
