Public Safety Officer Keith Tetrault receives proclamation from Town Board and congratulations from Public Safety Director Kenneth Lindahl.
At its February 6 meeting, the Huntington Town Board officially recognized a Town public safety security officer for quick thinking and action to assist a person who had fallen onto Long Island Rail Road tracks and was unconscious.
On the evening of January 10, 2012, Public Safety Security Officer Keith Tetrault was on patrol in the vicinity of the Huntington LIRR Station, when a passerby alerted him that someone had fallen onto the tracks. Officer Tetrault responded and confirmed the alert. After radioing for police and emergency assistance, he entered the track bed without regard for his own safety and administered first aid to the victim, who was unconscious and had suffered contusions and abrasions. Suffolk County Police Units and Metropolitan Transit Authority workers arrived and shut power to the tracks. Emergency medical personnel removed the victim to Huntington Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
A proclamation presented to Officer Tetrault at the Board meeting noted that he “selflessly acted without regard for his own personal safety to help an injured person. He upholds the high standards of service and dedication to the citizens of Huntington.”

Congratulation to Keith Tetrault for saving this person’s life. It’s being at the right place at the right time. Finally some good news in the Huntington Station area.
congrats Keith!!
Finally a picture of the head of public safety. Why was he hired? In these hard times why did the Town Board hire him? He already received a New York State TAX FREE pension from his last job. I calculate that he receives about $300,000 a year from the sheep that pay his pension and new salary. he looks like an overfeed do not civil worker plus he should lose about 75 pound as he looks like a walking heart attack.
Thanks Keith & thanks to all that assisted that evening. Thanks to all the volunteers that go above and beyond every day of their life.
@Mr Huntington Station – It is dispicable that you would politicize this story. Mr. Tetrault is a hero and these are the kinds of accomplishments from Public Safety that we want to hear, Get a life.
