The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to an early morning raging fire at a home on Majestic Drive in Dix Hills, Sunday, October 30.  About 70 firefighters from the Dix Hills, Commack, and Melville fire departments responded to the 2:22 a.m. alarm with eight trucks, as Greenlawn firefighters provided standby coverage at Dix Hills Fire headquarters.  Battling high winds and freezing temperatures, firefighters brought the blaze under control within an hour, under the command of Dix Hills First Assistant Chief Tom Magno.  The two-story home was heavily damaged by the fire, which caused a partial collapse of the second floor.  The house was vacant at the time of fire and there were no injuries reported.  The fire is under investigation by the Suffolk Police Arson Squad and Huntington Town Fire Marshal.
