An 11-year-old boy was saved from drowning in a backyard pool yesterday afternoon due to a combined effort of members of the Suffolk County Police Department, a 16-year-old boy, members of the Huntington Fire Department and the Huntington Community First Aid Squad.
The boy, who lives in Huntington Station, was in a friend’s pool, located on Clinton Ave. in Huntington Station, at 12:37 p.m. when he went underwater and did not resurface. Jalen Sair, 16, of Huntington
Station, who was in the pool with the boy, pulled the boy out of the water. The boy was unconscious and unresponsive when emergency personnel arrived. Officers from the Second Precinct, members of the Huntington Fire Department and Huntington Community First Aid Squad administered First Aid on the boy after he was pulled from the water.
The boy, who was breathing but remained unresponsive, was transported by Huntington Community First Aid Squad to Huntington Hospital and will be transferred to Schneider Children’s Hospital for observation.
