Huntington Manor Fire Department Installation of Officers

The Huntington Manor Fire Department recently held their 108th Annual Installation of Officers and Awards ceremony. Following the presentation of colors by the Huntington Manor Honor Guard, Chaplain Deacon Edward Billia delivered the invocation and prayer for departed members.

Board of Fire Commissioners Chairman John Hall, and Commissioners Michael Pastore, Dane Martin, Carlo Conte, and Chris Fusaro administered the oaths-of-office to the following officers. Department Officers – Chief Gary Hatton, First Assistant Chief Fred Steenson, Jr., Second Assistant Chief Frank McQuade, Third Assistant Chief Mike DePasquale.  Corresponding Secretary Lisa Fusaro, Recording Secretary Robert Eng, Treasurer Garrett Hall, Financial Secretary Clifford Sutkevich, Chaplain Deacon Edward Billia, Associate Chaplain Thomas Petriano.

Noreen Holst, the widow of Honorary Chief, Chaplain, and Fire Police Captain Richard Holst who died in the Line of Duty in September 2009, was bestowed Honorary Life Membership.  Ex-Chief Mark Sciallo received his outgoing awards in recognition of his dedicated service as Chief in 2010.

The Hook and Ladder Company presented their Probationary Firefighter of the Year Award to Laura Scicchitano, and the Firefighter of the Year Award to Ex-Captain Jim Canty. The Hose Company presented their Probationary Firefighter of the Year Awards to Mark Forland and Alex Demarest, with Tommy Costas receiving the Firefighter of the Year.

This year, a new Richard Holst Inspirational Award was established and presented to Lorraine Boccio of Waldbaum’s for her humanitarian efforts and support of the department. The Peter A. Nelson Memorial Firefighter of the Year Award was presented to Ex-Captain Jon Hoffmann for his outstanding dedication and service.
