Around Town: “Memorial Day” Weekend Events

Memorial Day offers us a chance to give pause and reflect on the sacrifices of our servicemembers who gave their life in military service. There exists a wealth of opportunities in the Town of Huntington for you and your family to experience a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, either by attending a solemn wreath ceremony or a jubilant parade.

Saturday May 28th

Memorial Day Weekend Dedication to Huntington’s Hometown Hero Lt. James Byler
4th Annual “I Did the Grid” Run
8:00 AM – 4 Mile Competitive Run
9:00 AM – 1 Mile Fun Run
9:30 AM – 4 Mile Recreational Run / Walk
Greenlawn Memorial Park (Pulaski/Cuba Hill & Broadway)
Starting at 7AM


Sunday May 29th

Memorial Day Wreath Ceremony, honoring Lt. James Byler
Veterans Plaza at Huntington Town Hall

Monday May 30th

Greenlawn Parade, hosted by Greenlawn Fire Department
Start on East Maple Rd., then along Broadway to Memorial Park.

Northport Village Parade, hosted by Northport American Legion #694
Starts on Laurel Ave. at William Brosnan School, then along Main St. to harbor.

Elwood-Commack Parade, hosted by VFW #9263
Along Jericho Turnpike from the Home Depot to Veterans Highway.

Centerport Parade, hosted by Centerport Fire Department
Along Harrison Drive to Park Circle.

Huntington Village Parade, hosted by Nathan Hale VFW #1469
Starts at Big H shopping center, west on West Carver St., north on Green St., then along Main St. to Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building.

East Northport Parade, hosted by Knights of Columbus #6893
Starts at IGA shopping center, then along Pulaski Rd. to John Walsh Memorial Park.
