Legislative Candidate Rossetti attends “Last Beam Ceremony” at Canon site in Melville

Thursday afternoon, Democratic candidate for Suffolk County Legislature Steve Rossetti, attended a “last beam ceremony” at the site of the future Canon headquarters for the America’s being built in Melville.

The ceremony, which Mr. Rossetti attended as a member and Secretary of the Suffolk County Industrial Development Association (IDA), shows the last beam being placed on the structure of the future Canon building. As a member of the IDA, Mr. Rossetti was key in voting in the economic incentives that drew Canon to Suffolk County, from its’ current headquarters in Lake Success.

The building, slated to open sometime in 2012, will produce 1,200 jobs at an average salary of $70,000 dollars a year. Joseph Adachi, President of Canon U.S.A, stated in a press release that he has even more ambitious job growth targets for the building, hoping to have created 1700 jobs by the end of 2013. The 700,000 square foot building has even greater potential, with the end goal being to base 2,500 jobs based out of the building.

When asked for comment, Mr. Rossetti stated “The Canon Headquarters for the Americas project in Melville is a great example of how the Town of Huntington and Suffolk County governments can come together to create jobs and grow our regional economy.” Mr. Rossetti also noted that the last beam ceremony was important, as it was symbolistic for Canon to get to this point.

Mr. Joseph Adachi, President and Mr. Seymour Liebman, Executive Vice President of Canon U.S.A.

Mr. Rossetti is running on the Democratic line for the 18th Legislative District in Suffolk County, and is running on a platform of job growth, public safety, and environmental preservation. Current 18th District legislator Jon Cooper cannot run again due to term limitations.

What new jobs? Aren’t the existing employees that are working in Nassau County just going to be driving to the new location. Since when outside of the government has a democrat created a job?

  • Hello! Do you know if they make any plugins to protect against hackers? I’m kinda paranoid about losing everything I’ve worked hard on. Any suggestions?
