Woman Burned in Huntington Station Fire

Firefighters from the Huntington Manor Fire Department, assisted by the Huntington, Melville and Greenlawn fire departments battled a fire that extensively damaged a home Saturday afternoon, April 16, at 109 6th Avenue in Huntington Station.  A 34-year-old female suffered burns to her arms and face, and was transported to Huntington Hospital by the Huntington Community First Aid Squad. Other residents of the house safely escaped the blaze.  Huntington Manor firefighters responded with three engines, two heavy rescues, a ladder truck and fire police.  Mutual aid was provided by the Huntington, Melville, and Greenlawn fire departments with each dispatching an engine to the scene.  An additional Greenlawn fire engine stood by at Huntington Manor quarters.  About 65 volunteer firefighters had the blaze under control within an half hour, under the command of Chief Gary Hatton. The Suffolk Police Arson Squad and Town of Huntington Fire Marshal are investigating.
