Four Injured in Melville Crash

Four people were injured, two seriously, after a Nissan Altima slammed into a utility pole on Route 110 south of Fletcher Place and north of the Northern State Parkway, Friday morning, April 8, at about 3:15 a.m. The Melville Fire Department responded to the crash with 30 firefighters and EMS personnel along with a heavy rescue truck, two engines and three ambulances.  Units were under the command of Chief Robert Warren.  Melville firefighters used heavy rescue tools to extricate several victims from the wreckage. An additional ambulance was requested from the Dix Hills Fire Department, and two Huntington Manor Fire Department engines responded to secure the Helicopter Landing Zone at the Melville Mall parking lot across from the accident location.  Suffolk Police Medivac airlifted one patient to Stony Brook University Medical Center. The Melville Rescue Squad  transported two patients to the Nassau University Medical Center, and Dix Hills Rescue Squad transported a fourth patient to Huntington Hospital.  Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating.
