Artist Exhibit: Laurie Hollman: Fields of Color Reception Artist Exhibit: Laurie Hollman: Fields of Color Reception2:00-4:30 pm Hollman is a colorist in oil, acrylic, pastel and watercolor, whose work explores subjects both abstract and representational, and includes landscape, still life, and portraiture. Hollman sees parallels between her work as a painter and as a psychoanalyst in Cold Spring Harbor. A process of transformation is common to both fields, and in both there is a “co-construction” of experience. Fields of Color provides oportunities for the artist/viewer and psychoanalyst/patient to discover and grow. Hollman’s paintings are in personal collections in LI, Manhattan, and London. She has exhibited at the Heckscher Museum, the Cold Spring Harbor Library, the Art League of LI, and the BJ Spoke Gallery in Huntington. Artist Inquiries: 631- 692-9120. Hard Luck Café Concerts presents ALLISON TARTALIA on the same program with ANNA DAGMAR. Allison Tartalia is a classically trained pianist and self-taught guitar player with a theatrical bent, Allison draws upon diverse influences to create her eclectic brand of orchestral chamber pop. Her debut CD, “Ready,” was enthusiastically greeted by critics, and tracks from the album receive airplay on college and independent radio stations from coast to coast. Recently, Allison’s “Spinning Song” won second place in the Indiegrrl Song Writing Contest, and other tunes have been recognized by the Billboard and John Lennon Songwriting Contests.
Just when you think you’ve got her pegged as another romantic piano girl, Anna Dagmar hits you with a collage of noise, a lament for fallen soldiers, or an apocalyptic vision. Wait for the next track: it might surprise you.Anna Dagmar’s love of words was born at a tiny desk, in a tiny room, just north of London. St. Albans’ Cathedral choir, father’s classical radio, and mother’s lullabies echoed all around. And at age seven, one never forgets sitting on the steps of a new home in Massachusetts, on lookout, for the piano delivery truck. Admission:Regular: $ 10.00 Members: $ 7.00 All tickets at door ONLY/ NO advance ticket sales This concert begins at 7:30 pm with a one-hour “Open Mike”(all are welcome to perform! — time permitting. Priority given to performers who did NOT mike at previous month’s Open Mike). Concerts are at the Congregational Church of Huntington, (Wheelchair Accessible) 30 Washington Drive, Centerport.
