An Open Letter to Huntington Residents From Legislator Cooper

Legislator Jon Cooper

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

As you may be aware, on November 4th I was rushed to Huntington Hospital for emergency surgery to deal with a ruptured appendix and resulting complications.  I ended up being hospitalized for 12 days.  Since my discharge, I’m glad to report that I’m well on my way to a full recovery.

I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Daniel Schwartz, who literally saved my life, as well as the other doctors who assisted him with my surgery.  I’m also grateful for the compassionate care provided by the dedicated nursing staff at Huntington Hospital.  Throughout this very difficult ordeal, my husband Rob and our five children were constantly comforted by all of these medical professionals.

I also want to thank the hundreds of friends and neighbors who sent me their prayers, blessings and get-well wishes.  Even though I’m not able to respond to each of you personally, please know that I’m truly appreciative of your kind expressions of support.

In lieu of flowers or other gifts, my family requested that donations be made to the Huntington Community Food Council.  On behalf of our neighbors who find themselves in need of assistance during these difficult economic times, I want to express my gratitude for your outpouring of generosity.

This year more than ever, I feel particularly fortunate to be part of such a caring and supportive community.  On behalf of Rob, our kids and myself, we extend our very best wishes to you and your family for a happy and healthy holiday season.

Sincerely,

Jon Cooper
